Roadstone has recently been recognised for our commitment to sustainability with the highest decarbonisation rating on the CO2 Performance Ladder, one of Europe’s leading carbon management schemes.
Significantly, Roadstone is also the first company in Ireland to be awarded Level 5 Organisational Certification under the scheme. This milestone reflects the progress we are making in reducing carbon emissions and advancing our long-term ambition to help build a more sustainable future.
The CO2 Performance Ladder supports organisations in embedding green procurement into day-to-day decision-making through an accessible, structured approach. The Ladder consists of five levels, with each level representing a higher degree of commitment and maturity in measuring, managing, and reducing CO₂ emissions.
Developed by the Dutch foundation SKAO, the tool provides a framework by which organisations can systematically reduce carbon emissions through ‘Climate Friendly Procurement and Business’. Since being introduced here in 2023 by the Irish Green Building Council, it has been supporting Green Public Procurement by strengthening the role of sustainability as a key criterion within tender processes.
Across Europe, more than 8,000 organisations participate in the CO2 Performance Ladder. However, only a small number have achieved Level 5 Organisational Certification, particularly outside the Netherlands and Belgium — where the Ladder has been established for over a decade — making Roadstone’s achievement especially notable given the scheme’s recent introduction in Ireland.
Our standing at the top of the Performance Ladder demonstrates that we are not only reducing emissions within our own operations, but that we are also actively engaging with our entire value chain to deliver measurable climate actions.
This recognition also highlights how innovation and sustainability are being embedded across our products and processes, supporting the transition to a resilient, low‑carbon future for Ireland and our commitment to reinvent the way our world is built.
