Introducing Low CO₂ Asphalt: CEVO

CEVO is Roadstone’s low-carbon asphalt solution, developed through decades of research and innovation at our asphalt R&D facility. CEVO allows for the integration of multiple carbon-reducing technologies into a single, high-performance product. This solution delivers meaningful carbon reductions and supports Ireland’s transition to more sustainable infrastructure, without compromising on quality or durability.

Technologies and Practices

CEVO leverages a suite of technologies and practices that are available and deployable today:

Reclaimed Asphalt Planings (RAP)

Minimises reliance on virgin materials, helping to lower embodied carbon and preserve natural resources.

Warm mix technology

Reduces production temperatures, lowering energy use and emissions.

Sustainable Binder Systems

Renewable bio‑binders replace or reduce conventional bitumen, lowering embodied carbon. Our in‑house developed bio‑rejuvenators are used to restore aged bitumen, enhance performance and enable circular asphalt solutions.

CEVO includes access to our Carbon Calculator, allowing clients to compare mix formulations and quantify carbon savings instantly, supporting informed decision making and compliance reporting.

Aligned with Rating System

Low carbon asphalt products are aligned to our rating system, to demonstrate carbon reductions in asphalt mixes. Put simply, an asphalt mix with a rating of C or better is a CEVO low carbon asphalt. We establish the rating of each mix through our carbon footprint calculator and provide the mix specific embodied carbon values via our carbon footprint reports.
