Readymix Concrete Delivered Across Ireland
Understanding the concrete strength and volume (m³) you require will allow us to prepare an accurate quotation for you, including any potential minimum load / waiting time charges.
Ensuring accessibility for concrete truck access is also important. The below guide will explain these items further.
-
Concrete Strength ExplainedExample: C20/25 D20 S2
• C20/25 = strength class (20 MPa cylinder / 25 MPa cube)
• D20 = 20mm maximum aggregate size
• S2 = medium slump/workability.
-
Calculate Concrete Volume (m³)Example 5m × 4m × 0.15m = 3m³
Use: Length × Width × Depth (all in metres) = m³
Example: 5m × 4m × 0.15m = 3m³
Tip: Add 5–10% for uneven ground and waste. -
Check Site Access for DeliveryBefore ordering, ensure access for a concrete truck.
• Width clearance: minimum 3m
• Height clearance: minimum 4m
• Vehicle length: approx. 11mTight site? Include your Eircode and concerns in the quote request.
-
Additional ChargesDepending on your order, the following charges may apply:
• Minimum load charge for deliveries under 6m³
• Waiting time: First hour free for full loads, thereafter a waiting time charge of €15 per quarter hour will apply. The Defective Concrete Levy is included in your final quote and applies to all orders.

How much Readymix Concrete do I need for a shed base, patio or driveway?
Measure Length × Width × Depth. Many domestic slabs are 100mm (0.1m) thick (project dependent). Add 5-10% for uneven ground/waste.How do I calculate concrete volume in m³ (cubic metres)?
Length (m) × Width (m) × Depth (m) = Volume (m³).Example: 5m × 3m × 0.1m = 1.5m³. Convert mm to m (100mm = 0.1m).
How much does Readymix concrete cost per m³ in Ireland?
Prices vary by location, mix and order size. Request a quote with your Eircode and volume (m³) for an accurate delivered price, including any minimum load or waiting time charges. What happens if I order too much or too little concrete?
Ordering the right amount of concrete is important to avoid delays and extra costs. If you order too little concrete:
The pour may need to be stopped while extra material is arranged. This can lead to problems and is best avoided.
If you order too much concrete:
Any surplus concrete will be returned to our plant and disposed of safely. Extra volumes can add to your overall project cost.
How to avoid errors:
We recommend double‑checking your measurements and adding a small buffer where the ground is uneven.
What strength concrete do I need (e.g. C20/25, C25/30, C28/35)?
It depends on the project and exposure conditions. Domestic slabs/patios often use standard mixes (design dependent). Driveways/slabs to receive heavy loading typically need higher strength and a brush finish. If you have an engineer’s spec, follow it.What does slump mean, and which slump should I choose (S2 vs S3)?
Slump is a measure of the workability of the concrete mix.S2 is stiffer for controlled placement.
S3 is more workable for easier placing/finishing or tricky pours.
Pumping requires higher workability.
Can I pour concrete in cold, wet, or frosty weather?
Yes, but conditions matter, heavy rain can damage finish, frost can harm curing/strength, low temperatures slow curing and protection of the concrete may be needed. See our hot/cold weather guides. What concrete should I use for installing fence or gate posts?
Lean mix concrete is commonly used for setting fence and gate posts because it compacts easily, provides stable support and prevents posts from shifting over time.Is Lean mix concrete suitable for a shed or storage base?
Yes. Lean mix is a reliable choice for shed bases and small garden storage areas because it creates a firm, level foundation that resists settlement and supports lightweight structures like bike sheds, timber sheds or bin storage units. Why is Lean mix used for garden edging and kerbs?
Lean mix is ideal for garden edging and kerb bedding because it sets firm, holds edging securely in place and prevents shifting caused by foot traffic, weather or soil movement. What concrete mix is best for drain haunching?
Lean mix concrete is widely used for drain haunching as it compacts well around pipes, provides strong structural support and helps maintain the correct pipe alignment during backfilling.Do you supply fibre-reinforced concrete, fast-setting concrete, or waterproof concrete?
Yes, we supply a wide range of specialist concrete mixes, including fibre‑reinforced, fast‑setting, and waterproof options. Different mixes are designed for specific applications such as durability, speed of installation, impact resistance and moisture protection.Availability may vary by location and your engineer can advise you on the most suitable mix design for your project.
Do you offer low-carbon concrete options, and how do I request them?
Yes. Ask for lower‑carbon options (e.g., CEVO where available) when you request your quote and we’ll confirm availability for your location. What’s the minimum order quantity for Readymix Concrete?
Minimum order is 1m³. A minimum load charge may apply for deliveries under 6m³.Can I order a small load (1-3m³) for a domestic job?
Yes. The minimum order is 1m³. Small loads are common for shed bases, patios and paths.A minimum load charge may apply under 6m³. Share your Eircode and volume for a quote.
What if the truck can’t reach my pour area?
If the truck can’t safely get close enough for chute discharge, you can use wheelbarrows, a pump or (where available) a conveyor. Tell us your access constraints and we’ll advise the best option.Do I need a concrete pump, or can the truck chute reach my pour?
A chute works if the truck can safely get close enough to discharge into the pour. You may need a pump for tight access, long distance, obstacles or pours at height. How wide does my entrance need to be for a Readymix truck?
Most issues encountered are narrow entrances, tight turns, parked cars or low branches/cables. As a guide, aim for a minimum width clearance of 3m & minimum height clearance of 4m . Share your Eircode and access notes (photos help) and we’ll advise. How long do I have to place and finish Readymix concrete once it arrives?
Concrete is time‑sensitive and depends on mix and weather. Most mixes will have a working time of two hours, however this may be shorter during summer time or more prolonged during winter time. Prepare shuttering, reinforcement, labour and tools before arrival. If you need extended working time, tell us when requesting a quote. Waiting charges may apply after the allowed on‑site time. Can you deliver concrete to a domestic address, housing estate or tight access site?
Yes, we deliver concrete to domestic properties, housing estates and tight‑access sites, but access must be checked in advance. To confirm access, please provide:
Your Eircode
Details of any restrictions (narrow roads, tight turns, low overheads, gates, parking issues).
For tight sites, sending a photo or video with width and height measurements is the quickest way to ensure a safe and successful delivery.
This helps us decide which mixer truck is required.
Can you deliver to an estate with parked cars or tight turns?
Yes, but access must be checked. Share your Eircode and note tight turns, narrow lanes or parked cars. A quick photo with measurements helps us confirm feasibility.Do you deliver on Saturdays / outside normal hours?
Delivery slots vary by location and demand. Include your preferred date/time in the quote request and we’ll confirm availability. What should I do to prepare my site before the concrete delivery arrives?
Before delivery: shuttering complete, sub‑base compacted (if needed), reinforcement installed (if needed), clear truck route, labour/tools ready. Delays can incur waiting time charges.Improve your understanding of concrete specification and practical solutions.
