Clever design results in well zoned outdoor space for DIY SOS

The Challenge

To provide an urban garden area of the highest design quality which is accessible while being fun and functional the product would have to be

Functional to accommodate the special needs of the customer

Resilient and suitable for Irish conditions

Accommodate the vision specified by Peter Donegan (Landscape Architect).

Be available to suit the tight project timeline.

The Solution

70m2 of Milan Paving 80mm in 2 sizes was laid as a car-parking area in the front of the house and as a ramp up to the front door. This paving was supplied in a Silver Granite and Midnight colour. Milan paving is a 360x120x80mm + 480x120x80mm concrete paving product which comes in a mixed bale and has a high-end granite textured finish. Milan paving gives a modern linear paved finish and suits both residential and commercial projects.

Roadstone also supplied 40m2 Verona 60mm paving in a mixed bale of 2 sizes (240x160x60mm + 160x160x60mm) for the side and rear of the house. The Verona paving was supplied in 2 colours (Silver Granite and Midnight) and has a high end granite finish similar to Milan paving. Verona Setts (100x100x60mm) were also used in the small courtyard at the side of the house, also in 2 colours (Silver Granite and Midnight).

All the paving was laid on 50mm of Roadstone Paving Grit which was screeded over 200mm of fully compacted Clause 804 Stone. Both of these products were supplied from Roadstone’s local quarry in Feltrim. Roadstone also supplied the Kiln Dried Silver Granite Jointing Sand for the paving and all these products were send from Roadstone’s paving plant in Gooig (Limerick).

The resulting outdoor space is both fun and functional. The selection of paving and walling products offers both practicality and a modern contemporary feel.

This project shows how a well designed space can compliment the home and bring a real sense of fun to any garden.

Takeaways

Roadstone Technical staff should always be engaged with before the beginning of large projects. This gives the client the full benefit of the project experience of Roadstone staff.

A Roadstone Retail Outlet should be visited before commencement in order that customer can see and take-home samples of the paving or walling options.
